INTRODUCTION

The word PALAIS is the acronym for 'Patrimonie Architectural Local et Aménagement Innovant et Strategique', an Interreg III C SUD Project co-financed by the European Commission.

The Project aims to develop a new model of economic management of the cultural heritage by elaborating an innovative methodology, repeatable on the European territory, ensuring the correct evaluation of relevant aspects in order to preserve, rehabilitate, maintain and manage the site.

The Project promotes a strong cooperation between public and private stakeholders, improvement of the local planning and self-maintaining of the cultural heritage.

The Project consists of five work packages:

  • Coordination and management: general coordination of all Composantes, organisation of official meetings, communicating, monitoring, reporting to the Commission.
  • Legislative analysis on Cultural Heritage Development: analysis of European, national and regional regulation on cultural heritage in order to elaborate a Policy Paper containing suggestions for the harmonisation of the European legislation.
  • Valorisation and preservation methods for local Cultural Heritage: elaboration of a common methodology to valorise and preserve the Cultural Heritage.
  • Evaluation of developed methodology: application of the developed methodology to the case studies and verification of possible improvement to do.
  • Promotion of project results and networking: elaboration of a Communication Plan to wide spread Projects' results.
